Ron Condon grew up in Daytona Beach Florida. His love of surfing motivated him to start his own surf shop while he was attending Seabreeze High School. Ron later went on to the University of Florida and graduated with a degree in Business and a minor in Marketing. To keep his love of surfing going Ron learned how to photograph surfing from land and water. While living in Hawaii, he became one of the best water photographers in the world and soon was producing, filming, editing and traveling the world showing his documentary films in theaters. Hollywood took notice of Ron’s work and hired him to film the action and water scenes for such classic Feature films like: ALOHA SUMMER, POINT BREAK, CHASING MAVERICKS, PEARL HARBOR, and more. Ron crossed over into episodic television as 2nd unit Director of Photography / Camera Operator on shows like PACIFIC BLUE, BAYWATCH HAWAII, LOST, GEGEN DEN WIND, THE STRAND CLIQUE, (for German television), BEYOND THE BREAK and more. Ron became a pro steadicam operator and helped film classic music videos for LL Cool Jay, Jessica Simpson, VH1’s #1 video hit from Sheryl Crow, (Soak up the Sun), and more. Ron’s an innovator and created the JET-CAM, in the 80’s, the first 2 passenger jet ski that was used for filming dramatic action and dialogue scenes in the surf that’s still used today. He built his own 3D IMAX quality camera with a custom water housing and was hired to use his, one of a kind, gear for the filming of the IMAX film: THE ULTIMATE WAVE TAHITI and RESCUE, for The Stephen Low production company in Canada. Ron’s hobbies are Surfing, Windsurfing, Mountain Bike riding, Scuba Diving, and Hiking. All those sports have taken Ron to so many incredible places with world class subjects to film. He’s proud to have captured World Surfing Champions in Tahiti, and recently a Guinness World Record of his friend smashing the land speed record on a bike, (Bonneville Salt Flats) at 183.931. miles per hour! I’m honored to be a part of the Jeff Hays Films team. The beauty of filming with Jeff Hays Films…As one of his camera operators, I get to see it first. I literally have a front seat to watch and learn from experts he’s sought out for his important films, based on a myriad of subjects. That’s the Jeff Hays Films experience for me, you’ll always walk away with something you can feel and hold on to.
